God of War: Origins Collection demo out today for Plus members

It’s not very often that a game remastered in HD receives a demo on the PlayStation Network so the release of one for God of War: Origins Collection is something to get excited about.

The demo will be available on the North American PS Store a little later today (around 11pm South African time), although it’s exclusive to Plus members until September 6th. It will feature a gameplay scenario from God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

Origins Collection includes both God of War PSP games (Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta) fully remastered for PS3 with 1080P 60fps visuals, full stereoscopic 3D support and trophies. The game’s developer Ready At Dawn even went so far as to re-render all the cut-scenes in full HD - a feature which is sadly lacking in many HD collections (including the remastered versions God of War I and II).

The game will be released in Blu-ray form on September 13th in North America for $39.99. It’s unclear when the compilation will receive a digital download release on PSN or if it will be released in PAL territories at some stage.

A very interesting developer diary for the collection can be found here.

Will you be checking out the demo later today? This is the first time we’re getting to play remastered PSP titles on PS3 so I know I’m looking forward to seeing how successfully they translate to the big screen!
