Assassin's Creed Revelations Beta available to PlayStation Plus members from September 3rd

PlayStation Network outage aside, it’s been a good year to be a part of the service particularly if you’re a PS Plus member. So far we’ve had the inFAMOUS 2, Uncharted 3, Journey and Resistance 3 Betas; all of which have been (and in the case of Resistance 3 - is proving to be) excellent fun.

However, all of these are PS3 exclusives which begs the question - what about the Triple-A multi-platform titles with significant multiplayer components?

Thankfully Ubisoft have realised how much the PlayStation community love exclusive Betas and have announced that they will release an Assassin’s Creed Revelations multiplayer Beta on September 3rd for all PS Plus and Uplay members on both the North American and European PlayStation stores.

So what exactly will the multiplayer Beta entail? Well, if we break it down into mere numbers you get a choice of nine characters, three maps, four modes and eight abilities.

Ubisoft’s official dissection of these features is as follows:

CHARACTERS - Nine characters are available in the BETA which are all unlocked for your use at the outset. Though they share the same overall behaviour, their animations differ and their ability sets are customisable. Available Characters include: The Sentinel, The Vanguard, The Guardian, The Vizier, The Thespian, The Deacon, The Bombardier, The Trickster and The Champion.

MAPS - Three maps are available in the BETA and are all unlocked from the outset. Be sure to pay attention to their lay-outs in-game as these maps have been tuned to allow for more varied strategy than those in Assassin?s Creed Brotherhood (it?s easier to break line-of-sight, for example).

• Knight?s Hospital
• Antioch
• Constantinople

MODES - Four modes are available in the BETA and they are all unlocked from the outset. Two of these modes are returning favourites from Assassin?s Creed Brotherhood, while the other two are brand new modes designed in response to player feedback. Available Modes include: Wanted, Manhunt, Deathmatch (NEW), and Artifact Assault (NEW).

ABILITIES - Eight Abilities are available in the BETA, but only some are available initially while others must be unlocked by increasing your rank. Although some Abilities return from Assassin?s Creed Brotherhood, you may notice some slight tweaks resulting from player feedback. Available Abilities include: Tripwire Bomb (NEW), Closure (NEW), Disguise, Fire Crackers, Throwing Knives, Smoke Bomb, Poison and Morph.

I’ll definitely be giving the Beta a whirl from September 3rd when the art of sneakiness will suddenly soar up my priority list. Will you also be there, hiding somewhere in the shadows waiting to slit my throat?
