Whenever you see the same ad for a shopping site you just visited pop up across the web, chances are that's not a coincidence but a remarketing effort by that site. These sites often offer users who abandon their shopping carts a discount to lure them back, for example, but the only way to get a hold of them once they have left the site is to target ads to them on other properties around the web. Google today announced that it is bringing its Google Analytics and Google Display Network closer together to give advertisers an easy to use option to remarket to very specific audiences who have visited their websites. This new service, says Google, simplifies the remarketing process and gives its advertisers more flexibility and "new ways to connect with [their] target audience."

Microsoft files antitrust complaint against Google in Europe, showdown imminent

Microsoft, citing Google's tyrannical 95% share of the European search market, has lodged a formal complaint with the European Commission. It's not like Microsoft is breaking any ground here -- the European Commission has been investigating Google's alleged violation of European competition law since November 2010 -- but there's no doubt that the addition of Microsoft's gravitas will affect the proceedings.

Microsoft's complaint reads like a sincere and plaintive cry for help against the Google Overlord. Microsoft lists no less than six damning reasons why Google's behavior is anti-competitive -- from Windows Phone 7's incompatibility with YouTube, to its nefarious handling of Google Books -- and finishes with a wide-eyed plea to the European Commission to please find Google guilty.

For those of you that have been following Microsoft's own antitrust troubles over the last decade, don't worry: MS is quick to point out the irony in the situation. "There of course will be some who will point out the irony in today's filing. Having spent more than a decade wearing the shoe on the other foot with the European Commission, the filing of a formal antitrust complaint is not something we take lightly. This is the first time Microsoft Corporation has ever taken this step. More so than most, we recognize the importance of ensuring that competition laws remain balanced and that technology innovation moves forward."

It sounds like Microsoft, having well and truly gone through the wringer, wants Google to be held similarly accountable. That's fair enough, right?

Report: Maria de Villota home from hospital, Marussia to conclude accident caused by "mistakes"

Spanish Formula One driver Maria de Villota has been released from the hospital following treatment for injuries sustained from a crash with a support truck during testing early last month. Doctors at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid found de Villota hadn't suffered any neurological damage in the Marussia MR-01 crash and will not require brain surgery. Even so, physicians will continue to monitor her injuries, and the driver is expected to undergo plastic surgery in the near future to address "the serious injuries to her face." Earlier reports indicate de Villota lost an eye in the impact and she spent 17 days in the hospital following the crash.

The BBC reports it's unclear whether or not the driver will return to Formula One. The FIA, which oversees the sport, does not grant international racing licenses for five years after a driver loses an eye. Physicians say that period of time is the minimum required for the brain to grow accustomed to the loss.

Marussia, meanwhile, has said it will announce the unfortunate collision was the result of a "chain of unfortunate circumstances and mistakes" that eventually caused her helmet to strike a loading ramp on the truck. Reports indicate de Villota may have struggled to find the clutch lever as she entered the temporary pits because the steering wheel was still turned outside of its standard position. In addition, German publication Auto Und Sport has indicated de Villota may have forgotten to push the neutral button.

Killzone Saturday: Time for some crushing Weekend Wars!

It’s almost Saturday again? So soon? Yup! So we all know what that means: Killzone 3 Weekend Wars!

This time we’re looking forward to having another legendary battle on the streets of Bilgarsk and the other locations of the Killzone 3 world. El33tonline members are welcome to join in as usual and help in the fight between the ISA and the Helghast.

Due to popular demand, we’ll be playing Guerilla Warfare online and depending on how many people join, we may either play private matches or take the fight online against the Killzone 3 hordes!

Killzone 3 Weekend Wars are a regular community event here at El33tonline and we hope to see a lot of new names in our roster for tomorrow’s battle. Report: 10 cities where homes cost less than a car

Things are not getting better everywhere. That's one of the themes in the 247WS.com story that points to 10 American cities where homes are cheaper than many new cars.

The list spans across the nation from Florida, to New Jersey to Ohio. But Michigan catches the brunt of the poorly priced real estate market, with Detroit taking the best of the worst honor by having the median listing price is $21,000 for a house, according to Trulia.com. That kind of change might get you a Chevy Cruze or Hyundai Elantra.

A new midsize sedan in the driveway should not cost more than the house it's parked next to.

In reverse order, here's the list and the city's median price for a home. Sadly, it's easy to pick a vehicle that costs more than any of these prices.

Windows 8 now available to OEMs via Microsoft Connect

Select Microsoft Connect partners -- major players like HP -- have been given their first taste of Windows 8. According to various sources, the build string currently sits at 7971.0.110324-1900, which is the third milestone build of the successor to Windows 7.

So far, there haven't been many details revealed about Windows 8. An actual System Restore -- which is being referred to as History Vault -- has been reported, and the feature will allow users and administrators to completely roll back a system to a previous state. A factory reset option is also said to be included.

We've also seen Windows Live integration taking shape on the desktop. It's believed that you'll be able to log in to Windows 8 using your Windows Live credentials, not just a traditional offline Windows username and password.

All that's left now is for a leaked Windows 8 build to show up on a torrent site. Feel free to tip us if you see that happen.
