Pre-April NPD Results: Sony touts PlayStation 3 sales growth

Following Microsoft’s statements regarding the market dominance of its Xbox 360, and ahead of the full release of NPD’s US videogame industry sales data for the month of April, Sony has revealed that its PlayStation 3 saw not insignificant year-over-year sales growth, jumping by double digits.

In an official statement, Sony says that NPD is reporting that sales of the PlayStation 3 for April in the US rose by 13 percent year-over-year, with software sales for Sony’s console increasing by 40 percent.

SCEA director of corporate communications Patrick Seybold wrote:

?We continue to see a lot of great momentum at the retail level, and appreciate the support we?ve received from our partners, retailers and customers since the criminal attack on the PlayStation Network. We hope to have services restored as soon as we can.?
