Brand new Diablo III footage hits the 'net hard!

Thanks to a recent press event held at Blizzard Entertainment headquarters in Irvine, California, all kinds of amazing new information has sprung forth regarding the studio’s upcoming fantasy-themed action RPG, Diablo III.

We’ll be sure to dissect the most important pieces of this new information soon, but for now, why don’t you relax for seven minutes and forty seconds by watching crushing Diablo III gameplay footage that has emerged as a result of the currently-on-the-go closed beta, showcasing powerful spells, varied environments, horrific enemies, and a spot of co-op:

Diablo III - Beta Gameplay B-roll

Which camp do you fall under: The side that believes Diablo III will release in 2011, or the side that thinks Blizzard will hold it back until 2012?

El33tonline is quietly hoping for the former, but after that round of gameplay footage and Diablo III’s showing at gamescom this year, we’re going to become much louder very soon.

Adobe's Edge tool promises Flash-like animation through HTML5

Even as plenty have declared HTML5 adoption the beginning of the end for Adobe's once ubiquitous Flash platform, the company has embraced the web standard, through properties like its Creative Suite and Wallaby. Adobe will be taking things a step further with Edge, an HTML5 design tool that promises to let "web designers to bring animation, similar to that created in Flash Professional, to websites." Arrinera Venocara Supercar Concept

For the most part, most of today’s supercars call the European continent their home. The growing trend of these high-powered machines has stretched far and wide in the continent with established countries like Germany, Italy, and the UK being joined in the supercar arms race by Sweden, Denmark, and Spain, among other countries.

Now you can add Poland to the mix.

The country best known for their polish sausages is set to introduce their very first supercar courtesy of Arrinera Automotive. The name for this Lamborghini-inspired beast hasn’t been announced yet, but Arrinera has nonetheless released a number of renderings to give us a first look on what to expect when this Polish hammer hits the streets in the future.

Initial details behind the car suggest that it will ride on a tubular steel chassis and will come with a carbon Kevlar body with plenty of carbon fiber, aluminum accents, and premium leather upholstery. It will glide along the streets with large diameter light alloy wheels wrapped around ultra low profile tires, 255/30 R19 at the front and 335/30 R20 at the rear. Stopping power will come from Ceramic brake discs.

As for the powertrain, there are whispers that it will come with a mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8 engine with four Eaton superchargers, producing an output of 638 horsepower and 604 lb/ft of torque.

UPDATE 06/10/2011: After seeing the first sketches of the Arrinera supercar just a short while back, we were about ready to take a look at the new Polish supercar in real life. These pictures were taken by Veno SA during the car’s official debut in Poland, but make sure you also hit the jump to watch a video of the debut.

UPDATE 08/01/11: Arrinera Automotive has unveiled a new video of their Venocara supercar in action on the streets.

More details on Poland’s first supercar after the jump.

Chevrolet Kicks Off Their 100th Birthday Celebration: vote and share away

Chevy100 website

Chevrolet turns 100 years old in 2011, and to celebrate the automaker is kicking off a series of events, both online and in communities across America. In 100 years, Chevy has sold more than 200 million cars and trucks across the globe, which means than a significant portion of the population in the U.S. and Europe have experience with Chevrolet products. If you haven?t owned a Chevy yourself, chances are good that you have a friend, neighbor, or relative who has, and in the United States it?s all but certain that you?ve driven in one.

To launch a 100-day countdown to its birthday, Chevrolet has launched a website called Chevy100.com that allows visitors to vote for their favorite of 16 Chevy models from the past 100 years. Owners and fans are also encouraged to share stories about Chevrolet on their Facebook page, which also has information and updates on local events relating to Chevy?s centennial celebration. The automaker also wants to hear your vision for the future of Chevrolet, and we’re sure we?d all like to know what happened to the flying cars we were supposed to be driving by now.

The festivities aren?t limited to the United States, either, and Chevy promises to support centennial events in Europe, such as June?s 1,200-strong Chevy rally in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Expect more on the celebration in the coming months, and don?t be surprised if Chevy uses their birthday party as an excuse to announce the development of future models.

Full press release after the jump.

Carnegie Mellon researchers use photo-tagging to violate privacy, prove nothing social is sacred

Some people never forget a face and the same, it seems, can be said for the internet. With some off-the-shelf facial recognition software, a connection to the cloud and access to social networking data, Carnegie Mellon University researchers have proved tagging can be the everyman's gateway to privacy violation. Using a specially-designed, AR-capable mobile app, Prof. Alessandro Acquisti and his team conducted three real-world trials of the personal info mining tech, successfully identifying pseudonymed online daters and campus strolling college students via Facebook. In some cases, the application was even able to dredge up the students' social security digits and personal interests -- from their MySpace pages, we assume. Sure, the study's findings could have you running for the off-the-grid hills (not to mention the plastic surgeon), but it's probably best you just pay careful attention to that digital second life. Full PR after the break.

UK Software Charts: Zumba Fitness thwarts Cars 2 and others during week of July 30th

Zumba Fitness is seemingly unstoppable and has so far remained at the top of Chart Track?s UK Software Sales listing for seven weeks in a row, racking up a total of ten weeks at No. 1 since its release earlier this year!

Zumba Fitness Banner Logo

With sales up 33% from the week previous, this isn?t simply a matter of capitalising on a slow game release period… although that does have something to do with it. New releases in past weeks, including Cars 2, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Call of Juarez: The Cartel, have all failed to appear at the top of the chart, only able to manage a place at No. 2, at best.

This dominant performance by Zumba Fitness means that it?s fifth in the list of games appearing at No. 1 on this particular sales chart, tied with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and FIFA 07 for most weeks spent at the top.

Cars 2 (sales down 100%), meanwhile, settles in at No. 2 and is up from No. 8 last week, Call of Juarez: The Cartel (sales up 7%) slips down one place to No. 3, Just Dance 2: Extra Songs (sales up 127%) zooms up to No. 4 from No. 18, and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (sales down 5%) steps down to No. 5 from No. 4.

DiRT 3 (sales up 11%) shifts up to No. 6 from No. 7 last week, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ? Part 2 (sales down 22%) trips down to No. 7 from No. 3, FIFA 11 (sales up 20%) moves up one place to No. 8, LA Noire (sales up 71%) leaps up ten places to No. 9, and Call of Duty: Black Ops (sales down 22%) tumbles down five places to No. 10 to round out the listing.

The only new entry to Chart Track?s chart this week is The Sims 3: Town Life Stuff, which appears at No. 12 during its first week on sale.

The Top Twenty All Format UK Software Sales Chart follows below:

  • 1.) Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
  • 2.) Cars 2 (Disney Interactive Studios)
  • 3.) Call of Juarez: The Cartel (Ubisoft)
  • 4.) Just Dance 2: Extra Songs (Ubisoft)
  • 5.) LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney Interactive Studios)
  • 6.) DiRT 3 (Codemasters)
  • 7.) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (EA)
  • 8.) FIFA 11 (EA)
  • 9.) LA Noire (Rockstar Games)
  • 10.) Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision Blizzard)
  • 11.) Dungeon Siege III (Square Enix)
  • 12.) The Sims 3: Town Life Stuff (EA)
  • 13.) LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1 ? 4 (Warner Bros. Interactive)
  • 14.) Assassin?s Creed: Brotherhood (Ubisoft)
  • 15.) Brink (Bethesda Softworks)
  • 16.) The Sims 3 (EA)
  • 17.) LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (LucasArts)
  • 18.) Fight Night Champion (EA)
  • 19.) Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
  • 20.) Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (EA)
