Konami announces plans to patch Silent Hill HD Collection and Silent Hill: Downpour

Two of Konami’s recent titles - Silent Hill HD Collection and Silent Hill: Downpour - have come under fire from fans for shipping with numerous bugs and framerate issues. The publisher has vowed to patch both games in the coming weeks, asserting that, “Players have voiced their concerns, and solutions to these issues will be fixed.”

Some of the problems players ran into include framerate dips and auto-save issues in Downpour, and yet more framerate woes and off-kilter audio-syncing in the Silent Hill HD Collection.

It will be interesting to see if Konami can successfully patch both games’ uneven framerate because it’s not always as easy as it appears (from what I understand). Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls both suffer from framerate issues but From Software was never able to patch them because the game engine simply cannot render 30 frames a second when it’s under severe strain.

What’s your experience of these two Silent Hill games been like? Are they as buggy and sluggish (with regards to framerate) as the internet would have us believe? Leave your feedback in the comments.
