Report: A new Command & Conquer developer steps into the light

Internet denizens VE3D were quick enough to capture information on a new EA-owned studio this morning thanks to the revelation of a site called CnCStage.com, which initially announced the existence of a new developer, Victory Games.

What?s the purpose of this studio? Why, to make new Command & Conquer games, of course.

Victory Games is based in Los Angeles in the US, and will serve as the figurehead for EA?s strategy games division in the future, with studios in Texas and Shanghai, too.

The CnCStage.com website has unfortunately been taken down (temporarily, we understand), but VE3D was able to snag a few details from the site, including a short interview with Victory Games? general manager, Jon Van Caneghem.

Here?s what Van Caneghem had to say about the formation of Victory Games, and what that means for the Command & Conquer franchise:

?Victory Games was created to be the focal point for the creation of strategy games for the Games Label at EA. Our current focus is making a AAA Command & Conquer game, which I am very excited to be working on. I?ve always been a big Command & Conquer fan.?

And what about any further details on this particular Command & Conquer title Victory Games is working on?

?I can tell you it?s a Command & Conquer game for the PC, but we?re not yet at a stage where I can go into any details?we?ll be prepared to make a more formal announcement later in the year. We?re not just working on a game, though.

?Our general focus is on the future of Command & Conquer. That means updating a lot of the core technology to create a stable base for future development, and leveraging that work on this first game.?

Command & Conquer fans should start getting excited right about? now!

We?ll keep checking CnCStage.com and let you know when it goes live for realz.
