Many RPGs feature gargantuan beasts to slay but few, if any, allow you to climb all over these creatures while you dish out the damage. Dragon’s Dogma embraces a variety of grip-based gameplay mechanics, from throwing smaller enemies into the path of your ally’s blade to traversing the game’s vast landscapes by catching a ride on a winged creature’s back.
Today Capcom released a new trailer for Dragon’s Dogma that provides a spectacular glimpse at the various ways in which grip-based mechanics have been implemented in the game. Take a look below:
I’m sure Dragon’s Dogma’s programmers weren’t too happy when director Hideaki Itsuno laid out his plans for this highly ambitious form of player interaction with the game’s creatures, although this trailer attests to their success in overcoming the many technical challenges that these grip-based mechanics must have posed.
Dragon’s Dogma will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 22nd in the US and May 25th in European territories.
