Publisher Deep Silver has today announced that Dead Island players will enjoy the addition of singleplayer downloadable content later this year, bringing “a unique new perspective” to the horrific outbreak of zombies on the game’s tropical island.
Titled ‘Ryder White,’ the DLC will tell another side to the story of Dead Island and players will be able to inhabit the boots of the titular Ryder White, the antagonist of the original game.
In the DLC, Deep Silver says that you’ll learn about White’s motivations for why “he did what he had to do. This fresh take on the Dead Island story shows Ryder White both as a military man and a loving husband.”
The new singleplayer campaign is said to last several hours “with twists and turns that will shed new light on the game’s happenings.” Two new blueprint weapons will also make an appearance.
Ryder White for Dead Island will release on February 1st across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, over Xbox LIVE Marketplace, PlayStation Network and Steam respectively. It’ll cost 800 MS Points or 7.99.
